Last month, Ryan Kelley was arrested by the FBI during a raid on his home for multiple criminal charges stemming from his participation in the violent insurrection that took place on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021 and resulted in five deaths and 140 injured law enforcement officers.
Despite Kelley being the only charged insurrectionist competing for the governor’s office, the rest of the field was quick to jump to his defense and embrace an insurrectionist who is on video shouting “this is war, baby!” while storming the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to prevent a peaceful transition of power after the last election.
The entire Republican party remains fixated on the past and undermining our democracy to keep themselves in power rather than the solutions that will keep Michigan first for decades to come, as made clear by their statements:
Kevin Rinke: I respect Ryan Kelley and have met him out on the trail. My hope is that the FBI is acting appropriately, because the timing here raises serious questions. Praying for him and his family.
Garrett Soldano: We extend our prayers to the Kelley family. It’s a sad day in America when the FBI has become an arm of the Democrat Party. Biden’s FBI is busy targeting parents and intimidating Republicans while crime runs rampant across America.
Tudor Dixon: Are we expected to believe the corrupt FBI happened to schedule a raid on Ryan Kelley’s home the same day of the J6 production in DC? The timing of this looks a lot like another example of political prosecution by a Democrat Party notorious for weaponizing government.
