Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week, Republicans are poised to get what they’ve been pushing for for years – making abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest, threatening doctors with jail time, and putting women’s lives at risk. This attack on choice is wildly unpopular, but that hasn’t stopped Republicans from pushing to make abortion illegal and inserting politicians into Michiganders private medical decisions.
As Republicans work to dismantle Michiganders’ basic rights, voters deserve to know where their elected officials stand.
Here are three questions every Michigan Republican needs to answer for their party’s attacks on Americans’ fundamental freedom to make their own decisions about their bodies and their health care:
- Do you believe abortion should be illegal – even in cases of rape, incest and risk of the life of the mother – in Michigan, despite the vast majority of Michiganders opposing such bans?
- Do you support a federal abortion ban?
- Do you believe that taking away Michigander’s rights is a higher priority than cutting costs and lowering inflation?
