MDP Chair Lavora Barnes issued the following statement in response to the Michigan Court of Claims ruling that chief “neophyte” James Craig will not be included on the August Republican primary ballot:
“We applaud the Michigan Court of Claims’ speedy judgment on James Craig that mirrors the decisions handed down by the Court of Appeals earlier this week in the case of Perry Johnson and Michael Markey’s fraudulent and insufficient nominating petitions. The former police chief should have known better than to think his campaign was above the law. Michigan families deserve principled leadership that fights for them – not irresponsible and lawless candidates who refuse to uphold the integrity of our electoral process.”
