As we approach the one year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan, today’s job numbers are a clear sign that President Biden’s economic plan is working and our recovery isn’t just one track, it’s exceeding expectations – no thanks to Republicans in Congress who unanimously opposed it. Following today’s strong job report, which showed almost 700,000 jobs created, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“Thanks to the steadfast leadership of President Biden, we’re beginning March with 678,000 more people employed across the country — a testament to the President’s economic plan. This huge growth in our economy is absolutely thanks to Biden’s American Rescue Plan that’s created millions of jobs, put shots in arms, and tackled supply chain issues in every corner of Michigan — and that not a single Republican voted for.
“While Michigan Republicans tried to block this lifeline for our economy, Democrats listened to what our communities needed and voted yes. While there is still more work to be done, Governor Whitmer and Michigan Democrats are putting our American Rescue Plan dollars where they’re most needed and building a stronger economy for the Great Lakes State.”
