Electric vehicle manufacturing and chargers are the future of the Michigan economy and President Biden knew that when he made a historic investment into their production with his Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
While Republicans in Congress, including Reps. Jack Bergman (MI-01), Bill Huizenga (MI-02), Peter Meijer (MI-03), John Moolenar (MI-04), Tim Walberg (MI-07), and Lisa McClain (MI-10), have spent the past few months railing against President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that paved the way for innovation and economic investment, Michigan Democrats have been focused on bringing jobs to Michiganders across the state.
The $110 million from the infrastructure law towards EV expansion in Michigan will create thousands of jobs in the state — for people who work in the factories all the way to the managerial level. Thanks to Democrats, the “jobs of the future will end up in Michigan, not halfway around the world.”
“You’d think Michigan Republicans would have more regret voting against popular legislation that has provided a foundation for huge companies like GM to put their faith in Michigan, but it’s clear they care more about scoring political points than delivering for their constituents,” said Michigan Democratic Party Spokesperson Alyssa Bradley. “This dereliction of duty begs the question — if the Michigan GOP isn’t for jobs, what are they for? While they figure out the answer to that, President Biden, Governor Whitmer, and Michigan Democrats will continue passing legislation that provides good jobs for the Great Lakes State.”
In total, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is estimated to create over 500,000 jobs in the next decade in Michigan. That’s what six Republicans who claim to want to make the economy better voted against.
