2022: The Year of Jobs

President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is going to be a gamechanger for the American economy as we continue the recovery process into 2022 – and it’s a BFD for Michigan. With unemployment in the single digits and the Biden-Harris administration creating nearly six million jobs in their first year in the White House, Americans are already seeing a path forward, and a report from Georgetown University shows BIL is going to spur even more economic growth.

After years of the previous administration claiming infrastructure weeks, President Biden is producing an infrastructure decade! The $1.5 trillion investment from President Biden has the opportunity to create 15 million jobs over ten years nationwide according to the report. For people across every education level, this means a big boost in new opportunities to be a part of the historic process to rebuild bridges, roads, upgrade water infrastructure, and expand broadband access for all.

For the people who’ve felt most left-behind, this is a huge deal:

  • Michigan stands to gain close to 500,000 new jobs over the next decade in both labor and managerial positions
  • About 75 percent of jobs will be created for those with a high school diploma and some non-degree short term training
  • 1.5 million jobs for people with associate’s degrees, 1.6 million jobs for people with bachelor’s degrees, and 600,000 jobs for people with graduate degrees
  • More than half of the jobs created will be in the transportation or material goods sectors

Thanks to President Biden and Democrats who fought for it, Michigan is heading into 2022 with more employment opportunities on the horizon, a lower unemployment rate, and an economy on the brink of recovery.
